This apartment is very large although it only states two bedrooms, it can sleep several people. It is a perfect family home in Portland, Maine and comes fully furnished. The furniture in the picture has some older furniture that we replaced with new furniture (that is nicer). The home is three levels and has a ton of storage space. We are open to one month or more and adjust our prices as such. We have never rented this portion of the house long term before so we open to discussion for folks working remotely etc. We are 5 blocks from Maine Medical Center in a West End in Portland, Maine. This is a very large multi-level apartment in the West End located on the corner of Walker and Brackett Street. It is 2 floors above street level and very quiet. Private large entry leads to spiral staircase. There is off street private parking available directly next to the house. The apartment is three floors- all yours with this rental. You enter your very own private door at 12 Walker and head up the amazing hand-carved spiral staircase to the first landing which opens to the main living room. The apartment has two large bedrooms upstairs with a large 'hangout' space with built-in seating and a long hall-way separating the two bedrooms located on the third floor. The apartment comes fully-furnished with two queen size beds and two twin size beds in one of the rooms (the twin-size beds can be removed if not needed). The master suite has a bathroom with wall-to-wall tile complete with shower seat. There are also skylights on both sides of the house upstairs. The large kitchen has plenty of cabinets and prep space, dishwasher, gas range oven, all the needed cooking and dishware one could need (coffee, toaster, spices and much more). The kitchen also has an energy efficient washer and dryer in a separate closet. Dining room table seats 6 but can seat more with provided table leafs. There are brand-new dining room chairs for entertaining. Living room has been freshly painted and updated with new chandelier and propane stove in the fire place which is remote controlled. There is a large leather couch and chairs. There are large rugs throughout downstairs adding warmth and comfort. There is a full bathroom off the kitchen with tub and shower. There are many, many large closets for storage as well as a large basement which renter has access too for storage of off-season items (skis/bikes etc) The neighborhood is home to a large number of historic homes and parks. In 2010 it was called "one of the best-preserved Victorian neighborhoods in the country." The neighborhood is walking distance to the Old Port. Tandem Coffee Roasters is a block away as well as Yord Prom Coffee. Bonobo Pizza is a short walk as well. Figgy's Fried Chicken is on the other end of the street! Really too many fabulous restaurants to name. There is a playground and basketball court only a few blocks away. The neighborhood is very safe and family friendly. The house was built in 1836 by John Walker who the road is named after. A hundred years later it was renovated by John Calvin Stevens. Stevens' firm added windows to keep the Greek Revival Style of the home. The house has been lovingly cared for and updated and retains all of its historical features. The heat and hot water run on natural gas and the apartment has large steam radiators. We installed a Nest for maximum efficiency to be set by tenants when they are away from the house.
