This 1870 hand-hewn log house was moved from Winston Salem in 1978 and reconstructed on new rebar-stabilized foundations. The house features three over-sized fireplaces, original 5/8" heart pine floors, heavy exposed beams in downstairs rooms, original pine paneling from 1870, and original windows with interior, custom designed storm windows. The simulated slate, 50 year roof was installed in 2005. New electrical, plumbing, and insulation was installed during the 1978 reconstruction. Geothermal heating and cooling was installed in 2015 along with encapsulation of the crawlspace. An old fashioned porch wraps the front, side, and rear of the house.
