In the late 1700’s the owner of Spring Island chose a site nearby for his home (today’s Old Tabby Ruins). The same Port royal Sound panorama enjoyed then remains one of the finest to be found anywhere in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Add the view of the Old Tabby Link’s 18th green to the home’s convenient proximity to the golf clubhouse and you have one of the most desirable locations on the island. The architecture is classic and uncomplicated. Round brick pillars, inspired by a nearby plantation and designed by Jimmy Thomas, a slate roof and Savannah gray brick combine to give the home a sense of solidity.
