They have done what is sometimes referred to as "edible landscaping."Here is a list of what grows here from year to year without replanting:Five kinds of figs, including; Brown Tukey Figs, Peter's Honey Fig, Tiger Fig, Black Mission Fig, and Conadria Fig. These vary significantly from one another, are all delicious, and we get literally hundreds of them from May through October.Eight varieties of citrus fruit, including; Washington Naval Orange, Ruby Grapefruit, White Grapefruit, Clementine Mandarin Orange, Mineola Tangelo Orange, Cara Cara Orange, Seedless Lime, and Meyer's Lemon. The Meyer's Lemons are so lovely that you can eat the whole thing including the rind. These and the other citrus trees produce abundantly in the winter months. Thornless Blackberries. These are the yummiest blackberries I've ever tasted.Two apple trees, including a Dorsett and a Sundowner.A Moringa Tree. Virtually every part of it is edible. The leaves are the best for lactating mothers as it helps to produce more breast milk,Five different varieties of grapes.There are nine more fruit trees including; Aprium, Plumcot, Apricot, Flordahome Pear, Asian Pear, Purple Plum, Nectarine, and two Peach Trees.They have always maintained an herb garden which we use for delicious daily meals. This presently includes; oregano, chives, savory, three varieties of basil, and rosemary. It seasonally contains other herbs including cilantro and thyme.They have generally maintained a vegetable garden as well. What is in it at any given time changes considerably with the seasons. They have successfully grown or are now growing: three kinds of kale, cabbage, bok choy, rutabagas, artichokes, Asian greens, Napa Cabbage, spinach, okra, chard, turnips, edible and ornamental chrysanthemums, carrots, beets, various radishes, many kinds of cucumbers, peppers, many varieties of squash, melons, asparagus, and many others.There is an actively operating compost pile on the property. They entertain an abundance of hummingbirds, partly because of the flowers that are ever present and partly because we feed them.
