Many improvements were done in 2010 including remodelling the kitchen with granite countertops, "full-tall" granite backsplashes and Stainless steel appliances, including a gas range, French-door cabinet-depth refrigerator and vented microwave oven. At the same time, we installed a 2-gallon electric point-of-use water heater for instant hot water for the kitchen sink and dishwasher. All windows have been replaced with high-efficiency Low-E glass and vinyl siding on 3 sides of the house was replaced with Continental Polymer installed over house wrap to prevent wind infiltration. The roof was replaced in 2013 using architectural style 30-year shingles. At the same time, all gutters, shutters and some screens were replaced. Some landscaping beds were re-done by Rost Landscaping in 2018. In September 2019, we added solar panels to the roof's west slope, which is not visible from the front of the home making it possible for us to generate over 95% of our own electric power* without detracting from the beauty of the home In the summer of 2017, we regraded and sodded the back yard to divert runoff from our neighbors, into our underground downspout system. At the same time, we broke out the patio and re-poured it so that it would slope away from the house.
