    1706/1708 E Galer is situated in between and 2-3 short blocks from both Volunteer and Interlaken parks. Volunteer Park is a delight and boasts the Seattle Asian Art Museum, Botanical garden, the water tower and a huge wading pool for kids beside the play area. Interlaken is mostly undeveloped, except for the trails that wind through. Its perfect for running, biking or walking your dog. Bus lines 10 and 12 to downtown start from the park entrances. The trip to downtown takes about 15 minutes on either bus. The arboretum is a 10 minute walk away, and the Japanese gardens are there too. Stevens Elementary school is 1 block away to the east across the street. The neighborhood is very quiet and friendly, with the small, yet very popular Volunteer Market Cafe on the corner. Huge, turn of the century homes dot the neighborhood in the characteristic northwest architectural style. Most of the streets have alleys, which gives the feeling of more space between homes. Fantastic and affordable restaurants, coffee bars and shops are approximately 1/2 mile away on 15th ave east. For eastside commuters, you can not be much more conveniently located as the entrance to 520 is a 5 minute drive away to the north. The main UW campus is in that same area.
