    What's special

Hi there! We have multiple single and shared rooms available at The Ship right now, a community house in Harvard Heights founded ten years ago. We like to foster an open, inclusive space with good conversation, cooperation, and sometimes group meals and movie nights! We are a mixed gender household and LGBT+ friendly. The rooms are good sized, and most have big walk-in closets (great for recording booths!). Two of the rooms are shared rooms- space for two people. We can't have free roaming pets and no tobacco use on the property (420 is fine outdoors though!) The house is close to the 10, USC, downtown, Koreatown, and major bus lines. Walking distance to a grocery store, CVS, coffeeshop, and a lot of restaurants. Diverse neighborhood with ice cream and tamale trucks every day. There are multiple community houses in the neighborhood and in non-covid times they sometimes have parties, cookouts, and art events. You should be the kind of person who wants to live with others, who respects and takes care of shared spaces, is over 21, has a stable income, can use Slack to communicate with the rest of the house, and wants to contribute to a house that feels like home. We've had a lot of different kinds of people live here, from lawyers to coders to artists. We love when the house is full of people creating and making things. It's not a house for someone who needs sober living but not a crazy party house either. We're taking precautions with covid and would expect you to as well (no visitors are allowed during the pandemic.) If this sounds great to you please email liveattheship at gmail telling us your name, your age, if you've lived in a community situation like this before, and a bit about you! We'd love to hear about what you do professionally and for fun. If you sound like a good fit, we'll contact you to set up an interview/tour. Looking forward to hearing from you! -laundry -lots of parking in the huge back yard -4 porches and a gazebo -a garden with fruit trees -a comfy living room, dining room, and large kitchen with 3 fridges -A projector/screen being set up in the living room -A nook for office space/podcasting/making stuff, with a treadmill desk -storage space -a roof with 360 views of the city -good internet (400/20 with a mesh) -fancy new BBQ grill -totally cool if you're vegetarian/vegan, but kitchen isn't meat free -$600 per person for shared rooms -single rooms start at $675 -deposit: one month's rent -utilities: usually $75 per month (plus your personal A/C) -need to pitch in occasionally for shared stuff like toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc. -rooms are unfurnished though there is usually some free furniture floating around the house -no lease term but we hope you'd stay at least two months (most people stay for a couple years) -30 day notice if you move out -you'll need to sign a community agreement that says you'll keep the shared spaces nice, be respectful, etc. -all rooms move-in ready!
