    What's special

184 CONGRESS STREET, BRADFORD,PA - This Victorian mansion is the former residence of oil magnate Lewis E. Mallory, built in 1895. It still possesses its charm of the 19th century with its original wood floors, cut glass windows, high ceilings and magnificent woodwork. The parlor boasts a beamed ceiling constructed from birds eye maple, a high-grade furniture wood that was used in thin veneers. The use of solid beams of this wood back in the day must have been shocking. An updated dine in kitchen also boasts a coffered ceiling constructed from solid oak. The sweeping staircase with its barley-twist spindles and angelic newel post are a treat for lovers of the Victorian Era. The second floor newel posts are also very ornate. The opulence of the first floor usually fades on the second floor but not so with this house. This home is uniquely set up as 5 apartments but can be converted back to a single family home. Two apartments are located in the former servants quarters and have been constructed with respect to the natural outlay of the house and have their own separate entrances. These have been fully updated with new kitchens and bathroom. The additional 3 apartments can be used as the main living area and keep the others as income. Bradford is a quaint Historical town that sprung up during the oil rush of the 1880s and at one time was the biggest oil producer in the United States. Its rich architecture is a testament to this fact. The mansion is located in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania in the small town of Bradford.
