Room for rent on Main Street over Tunic Coffee, $900 plus utilities. Available August 1. Hardwood floors, gas stove, in-unit washer and drier. We are a few blocks from Smith, Forbes library, Amtrak, right next to Thornes market, and many cafes, bookstores and vintage shops, and a fair amount of live music. The available room is about 10' x 8' not including the spacious closet. We have a new wooden queen bedframe and night stand available if you'd like to use them. The unit itself is about 550 sq ft. My teenager and I live here, and after my partner and I parted ways this month, we are looking to fill the available second bedroom. Teen lives in the front bedroom, and I am staying in the livingroom so our housemate would need to be comfortable with this. As my kids grew up we shared a home many times with other families and single adults. We like to think we are pretty good at communicating about house rhythms, how to use common space etc. to make a harmonious living environment. We don't necessarily assume a housemate who wants to be in the mix with us all the time - but wouldn't mind sharing a meal or conversations once in a while if that is your disposition. We are looking for someone responsible, reasonably tidy, and comfortable communicating about the nuts and bolts of sharing a household. We are both introverts and value our quiet time at home, but also like music and getting into nerdy debates about diverse special interests here and there. Our landlord is very responsive and caring and it's always been easeful working with her to maintain the unit. The space is small, but well-organized. I consider it one of the most beautiful places I've lived. It's fun watching the mornings and evenings on Main street unfold from our perch around the dining table. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to take a look. Note that since we are a family, references would be requested, and we are happy to provide as well. My daughter and I are on a month to month lease having been in the unit a year. We may leave in six months or wait until the end of the school year. While we are here, I will carry the deposit for the whole unit. Once we leave, you will renegotiate your own deposit with the landlord and whomever you choose as you next roommates. Note that the rent I am asking for now $900 reflects less than half the total rent, $2300, since my living space (bed, etc) is in the living room. So, once we leave in Jan. or June, your share of rent may need to be renegotiated depending on how many other roommates - two or one - you assume. With respect to pets, we currently have our aging pitmix Maggie living with us. She is very loving with all humans, just can't get along with other animals. However, because she has cancer, she may not be with us very much longer. It's hard to say - probably between 3 and 6 months. At that time, if you want to get a pet, you can discuss this with our landlord Aimee! There have been cats and dogs in other units while we've been here.
