This 6500 square foot home is a beautiful Gothic Revival style with many of the original stained glass windows. Building was completed officially in 1905 although the interior work continued into 1906-1907. Nice sized lot of .28 acres or 12,029 sqft. In the mid 1970’s the former congregation rewired the entire building to code, remodeled the basement adding a new stairwell and creating a daylight banquet room, extra large kitchen 2 bathrooms and a good sized storage room with lots of built in shelving. It is zoned residential with the county and residential/commercial with the city. As far as the city is concerned one may live in it and or turn it into any type of commercial enterprise you wish. Major improvements to this home are as follows. 2017 new 50 year roof gutters and down spouts. 2019 tucking of half of the exterior brick and stone, repair of one large window and removal of two which failed passed the feasible point of restoration. 2020 a new three car parking pad in the backyard which is footed for a 20x20 ft garage. A myriad of restoration has been done on the interior along with reintroducing antique light fixtures. The costly repairs have been done the rest is up to the imagination of the new owner. The 2300 sq ft daylight basement with 9 foot ceilings is currently open living quarters with the exception of bathrooms and two rooms used as a bedroom and walk in closet. We chose not to build walls as we knew one day we would sell and someone would have other ideas as to its arrangement. It is cozy warm in the winter and cool in the summer without the need for air conditioning. The kitchen is huge, cabinets galore, 2 sets of sinks, room for two full sized stoves and plenty of room to seat 8 at the table. Laundry is in the storage room adjacent the kitchen. The larger bathroom has been converted with a claw foot tub/shower, the smaller is a ½ bath. On the main floor is a good sized entry, bonus room, large open former sanctuary, two former office rooms and the baptismal (create your own indoor spa). Two lofts above, one was used for the choir, the other houses the original working antique pipe organ (included in the sale) and two rooms adjacent to it. The attic above is huge and could possibly add another level. The bell tower still holds the original huge brass bell dated to 1875 and yes you can ring it. Heating options are gas and electric baseboard. Viewing the home is by appointment only. The terms of sale are AS IS and CASH we may carry a contract with $50k down. No repairs or alterations to suit the buyer. This place is a work in progress although very livable. The building will not finance because appraisers cannot find comps in the area for such a unique home. The only offers accepted will be those that present a verifiable letter of financial standing from their bank clearly stating that they possess the money to buy the home. Buyer and seller to pay their own closing costs. Give us a call and we’ll discuss the possibilities of your new adventure.
