European country tudor with open floor plan. Original carriage doors, oversized leaded windows (including one 15' x 10' leaded window in our dining rm), hardwoods and french doors throughout. A built in library flanks one full wall of the dining rm. Our down to the studs kitchen remodel features a hand-carved pewter bar, honed marble counters, viking 6 burner range, fisher paykel dish drawers and sub-zero refrigerator. A guest bath was added on the main floor. Another down-to-the studs remodel created a master suite on the main floor - custom cabinetry, frameless shower, custom vanity, Ann sacks marble over heated floors and throughout shower (also with heated floors). Another remodel in 2022 created a permitted ADU in the daylight basement - quartz countertops, heated floors, sound-proofing and a new separate entrance. A covered heated patio overlooks a lush private garden with an old stone bridge built over a pond. Irrigation and landscaped lighting were added. The covered patio and front yard faces Interlaken Blvd and is only a few yards away from Interlaken Park but it feels completely private with its 25' tall rhodies, japanese maples and boxwood framed gardens. Neighborhood Description We live in a mini enclave of about 15 homes that face Interlaken Blvd and are mere yards from Interlaken Park and a 5 minute walk to 230 botanical acres in the Washington Arboretum. We sit on the shared border of the Montlake and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods. Montlake is a friendly and active community with a wonderful mixture of people from academia, technology, legal and medical fields. There are families, singles, seniors -- residents from all walks of life. The community is very protective of our many parks (Arboretum, Interlaken, Lake Washington to name a few) and historical homes. It is not uncommon for neighbors to gather in the park for a visit while walking their dogs, or at the play structure while watching their children, or attend an outdoor movie on a neighbor's lawn or neighbors for a dinner together at the Montlake Ale House on 24th. There is a real sense of community here.
