Oakhurst was the second house built in Hillsborough after the A. Page Brown Cottages in the early 1890s. This Henry Tiffany Scott home is one of the most recognizable of the first houses. In 1915 the house was reduced in size and the ballroom was moved on rollers inward to the house. Henry T. Scott was an attorney and President of Union Iron and was later President of Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, as well as the first mayor of Burligame. Oakhurst was updated in the 1960s and the ballroom is in its original grand state.
