A rose-covered arch over the gate makes a picture-perfect entry for this this charming shingle-sided cottage, just a short walk from the beach and close to everything that Carmel-by-the-Sea has to offer. Blossoming gardens and a generous deck at the rear of the 1,500-square-foot home make it easy to enjoy the outdoors, where you can hear the whispering of waves nearby, and see beautiful ocean views from the upper story. The three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home in a quiet neighborhood is surrounded by a fence and hedges that lend it privacy, and also make it a great place to bring four-legged companions. The residence is also just a few minutes by car, or a 20-minute walk, from dining and shopping in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, 30 minutes to the natural wonders of Big Sur, and 15 minutes to the quaint Victorians and breathtaking ocean views of Pacific Grove, or to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. A flagstone walkway leads through a garden of roses, ferns and flowers, embellished with river rock and abalone shells, with paths branching off to the entryway, porch and deck. Interiors in rich autumn colors are enhanced with antique furniture, artwork, and decor with coastal flair. The entryway opens into a small library/den with local books on history and nature. A twin futon in this room can be used as seating or as a sleeping area, and a convenient half bath is also nearby. A separate living area is lined with wooden paneling and shelves filled with books, and comfortable seating is arranged near the gas Carmel stone fireplace and the 50-inch HDTV. Glass doors lead you outside to the back deck and fenced rear garden area. The adjacent kitchen includes white tile countertops, a gas stove, and hardwood floors, and contains a seating area that looks out onto the back deck. The wood deck has patio seating and a gourmet gas grill, and is the perfect place to barbecue or to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. Bedrooms and Bathrooms On the second floor, Bedroom #1 includes a queen bed, as well as a large sitting room that's ideal for hanging out with the family and playing games or watching movies on the 50-inch HDTV. The room includes built-in window seating from which to enjoy beautiful ocean views. An en suite bathroom features a unique glass block shower with adjustable shower head, pedestal sink and antique-style fixtures. On the first floor, Bedroom #2 with a king bed is located across the hall from a full bath with antique-style fixtures, shower, and pedestal sink. The den/optional 3rd bedroom has a twin futon and a half bathroom. A stacked washer-dryer is also available next to the kitchen. Two off-street parking spaces in front of the home. Well-behaved dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet deposit and a signed pet addendum. Tenant is responsible for all utilities and upkeep, with the exception of sewer.
