*Furnished Room Available in Friendly East Somerville Home Ideal for Visiting Harvard/MIT/Tufts Academics*
We're renting out a furnished room in our welcoming, laid-back home near Union Square perfect for visiting academics and students coming to Harvard, MIT, or Tufts. The room is available from September 1st on a standard one-year lease for $1,200/month.
There's also the option to rent it short-term at a higher rate, ideal for a semester, research stay, or work placement.
The Space
The apartment is recently renovated with bright, spacious common areas, two bathrooms, an open-concept kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, and central heating and cooling. The available room is large, filled with natural light, and move-in ready with a queen-sized bed, desk, and clothes storage.
Location
The house sits right next to the Somerville Community Path and is just a five-minute walk from the Green Line East Somerville stop and several major bus routes (80, 88, 90, 91, 109, CT2). It's a bike-friendly spot, with Bluebikes stations nearby and both Harvard and MIT just a 15-minute ride away. If you drive, street parking is available. The neighborhood offers a variety of fitness options, including CrossFit, F45, and weightlifting gyms. Many popular local spots like Bow Market, Bloc Cafe, Vinal, and Michette are nearby, and in the summer, a farmers market at Union Square adds to the lively, local charm every Saturday. For groceries, several supermarkets Market Basket, Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop, Target, CVS, and Star Market are just a short 5 10 min drive away.
A bit about us:
We're an international couple (Ireland and Hungary) in our 30s a medical researcher and a chemist finishing her PhD. We love exercising (running, biking, F45), cooking, good chats, and hanging with friends. We also share our home with a playful cat. Unfortunately, we're keeping it a one-pet household for now.
Our place has a warm, community vibe. Our friends live in the apartments next door, so we often hang out in the shared backyard, grill together, and host the occasional gathering. We're looking for someone who enjoys a balance of social connection and independence. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
