    What's special

This listing is for a FURNISHED one-bedroom apartment. Electricity, gas, and high-speed internet are included in the monthly price. The BEST building, the BEST location, the BEST little apartment in Brooklyn! Built in 1941, The Berkeley is a gorgeous, historic, landmarked Park Slope pre-war coop located in the absolute heart of Brooklyn: Grand Army Plaza. When you walk outside, you are greeted by broad sidewalks, cobblestones, benches, and trees. Prospect Park (Central Park's smaller, more beautiful younger sibling) is just a block away! The Berkeley is also one block away from the 2/3 subway, and three blocks away from the B/Q subway, making it a breeze to get anywhere you need to go. Owned by an architect and a ceramicist, the apartment was renovated in 2014 according to the owners' plans. The apartment has loads of style and character, something you will find lacking in other StreetEasy rental listings. The flooring in the unit is solid walnut, and all the other materials, furnishings, and fittings were selected with great care. The unit is extremely quiet throughout the day. The living room features a large Persian rug in immaculate condition. The sofa is from West Elm, and is upholstered in an easy-to-clean dark blue velvet. The two armchairs are midcentury designs (one by the Danish designer, Ib Kofod-Larsen, the other by an American designer, Milo Baughman). There are also two marble sidetables (one "Tulip" side table by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen, the other from West Elm). For entertainment there is a large Samsung flat-panel television (equipped with Chromecast) and a Sonos soundbar. The three large windows in the living area enjoy a lovely green garden view of trees and brownstone backyards. The dining area features a solid oak Blu Dot "Branch" dining table, and four Shaker-style chairs from Design Within Reach. The kitchen features a 4-burner gas stove and solid black stone countertop. Near the entry is a fully-restored, perfectly-functioning 1950 Steinway upright piano, making this listing an absolute dream for any musician. And for any non-musicians, this is a great opportunity to learn to play piano on this incredible instrument! The bedroom features an original midcentury wooden dresser and mirror, and a wood/marble side table and solid-wood modern queen-size bedframe from West Elm. The bed includes a queen-size, medium-firm latex mattress in pristine condition (preserved from day one with a protective plastic covering under the sheets). There is also a remote-controlled ceiling fan to help stay cool in hot weather. There are three large closets: a pantry near the kitchen, a coat closet near the living area, and a clothes closet in the bedroom. Storage is ample for this size apartment. There is a doorman (arriving in the morning and leaving at midnight) to greet you in the stunning lobby every day. The building features beautiful wooden elevators that can take you up to the massive roof deck (enjoying views of Prospect Park, Brooklyn, and Manhattan), or down to the in-building laundry room. RENTAL TERMS: Note - Pets are NOT allowed due to this being a furnished rental, and due to the value of the piano. High-speed internet, gas, and electricity (within normal usage) are all included in the monthly rental price ($3500)! You would simply pay the single price every month and not worry about paying other bills. Being a coop building, an interview is required. Along with this interview is an application requiring information ranging from income and bank accounts, to letters of recommendation and tax returns. The building is well-run, with respectful and friendly residents, and this process is to ensure that any renters will not be disruptive. My ideal lease term would be for TWO YEARS. However, I am willing to discuss other terms. Please contact me for more information.
