Wedgwood is a desirable middle class residential neighborhood in northeast Seattle, with a modest commercial district along 35th Ave NE. Wedgwood was the first Seattle neigborhood where considerable numbers of large trees were preserved when the neighborhood was built. Wedgwood is located about two miles north, and slightly east, of the University of Washington, and it is about six miles northeast of Downtown. Adjoining neighborhoods are Viewridge to the east, Bryant and Ravenna to the south, Mapleleaf to the west, Meadowbrook and Matthews Beach to the north.
