    What's special

This is Colorado off-grid living and privacy at its finest! This property includes a small house, a detached/heated workshop, a woodshed, and an electrical/storage shed. French doors open from the main house to the western view across the valley. Charming patio stones lead you from the main home to the outbuildings, creating a lovely cottage-style appearance. The home boasts an 18-inch insulated concrete slab, raised ceiling, and was designed to perform all basic functions of living (heating, cooking, water, and lighting) off-grid. This was achieved using 12v DC componentry and a multi-level backup strategy. If necessary you can hook up your car's battery directly and have running hot water! The underground 1000 gallon cistern has an electrically-heated (110v) water line to the house and a meter to monitor water levels. The Precision-Temp on-demand water heater is propane-fired and controlled via 12v. Both house and workshop provide 110v/20 amp circuits. Lighting in the house is 12v but can be changed to 110v by switching bulbs and changing one connection. Both house and workshop use direct-vent propane heaters, which are controlled by thermocouple-powered thermostats. The house also has a Jotul woodstove that keeps you toasty during the Colorado winters. The 24v solar system uses 1365 watts of Kyocera solar panels to maintain 4.8kwh of AGM battery storage. The wind-turbine also contributes at times, and a backup generator is present but seldom needed. The 12x16 heated workshop has a 7' wide double-door for all your tools and toys. Park your RV next to the workshop to complete the Colorado lifestyle. The property is located 10 minutes from amenities in Cripple Creek including dining and shopping. Enjoy nearby outdoor activities at Dome Rock State Wildlife Area, Mueller State Park, and Eleven Mile Canyon! Less than 1 hour from Colorado Springs, and less than 2 hours to Breckenridge ski resort!
