    What's special

Located in historic Eastham Massachusetts on Cape Cod, this home is a charming 1823 antique Cape on almost an acre of land. It is on the National Historic Register and sits in the oldest historic district of Eastham. This home has many quaint qualities still in place including much of the original woodwork, floors, and hardware. The modern kitchen has the original woodwork and one bank of modern cabinets and a counter top, along with all stainless steel appliances including: a double oven Jenn-Air range, Westinghouse side-by-side fridge, and a working Glenwood Stove (Model C). Off of the kitchen is a full pantry with original shelving and hardware, along with a modern outlet. All rooms have been freshly painted and have either natural or painted Kings lumber wood flooring, or have refinished narrow red oak hardwood floors. The bathroom and mudroom are tastefully tiled. The large yard is replete with many organic raised beds, an established asparagus bed, a prolific trellised Concord grape vine, flower gardens, and cottages roses, along with 75 mature lilacs, large Cedars, French Hydrangea, a healthy stand of Rosa Rugosa, prolific apple trees, a giant Catalpa tree, Larchwood, Pear, and many others. This property is a garden showplace. Additionally, the Seabury-Sparrow house used to be the home of the town Farrier, and while the large barn burned long ago, the impressive antique foundation still remains. We have used the basement and surrounding foundation as a patio complete with a fire pit and perennial garden in front of a section of gated white fencing. Perfect for summer night campfires with plenty space for outdoor seating and tables. Theres a deluxe chicken coop with an 8 foot outdoor run, a new barn for tools and storage, a spacious outdoor shower, and covered farmer's porch perfect for storing wood and grilling. The exterior of the house was painted in the fall of 2015.  The house has a water view of Salt Pond, is very near to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and right across from the National Seashore and its hiking trails. You can hear the ocean from the yard! The ocean and bay are a 4 minute drive from the house. You can also walk to the Atlantic through the National Seashore which is right across the street from the house. The closest Kettle Pond (Great Pond) is less than a mile away. There is an adorable self-standing four season cottage on the property as well. I rent this cottage year round, but it could also be rented seasonally. It is a money maker and has a full poured concrete basement for storage. This charming cottage has its own kitchen, full bathroom, and sleeping loft.  The working chimney was lined by Sandwich Chimney works in 2013. That chimney is used to vent the functioning Vintage 1800s Glenwood stove that is in the kitchen. The house is heated by the Glenwood wood stove and by forced hot water thanks to the new Weil-McLain oil furnace that was installed in January 2015.  Both roofs were replaced in 2003. Cottage is fully insulated.  The attic and walls of the second floor of the main house were insulated in 2004. All walls on the first floor of the main house that can be insulated are.  The first floor contains: A mudroom with the new furnace, front loading washers and dryers (installed in 2013), a large kitchen, a pantry, a dining room (with eight doorways), a living room (with a two closets, one leading the bean pot cellar and a beautiful wooden original mantel piece), a bathroom with one tub and one shower, a grande hall, a small bedroom with a large closet, and a large bedroom with a small closet and mantle.  The second floor contains: A small room atop the stairs, a huge landing with a door that gives access to storage space with a tiny antique window, and two large bedrooms: one of which has a huge closet, original mantle, and more storage.

This property is off market, which means it's not currently listed for sale or rent on Zillow. This may be different from what's available on other websites or public sources.
