A lovely mix of historic charm and modern conveniences. This 125 year old row house is 4 blocks from Libby Hill Park, where you can see the view that named Richmond. Oozing with character, this fully furnished rental features exposed brick walls, high ceilings, 4 fireplaces (1 works), & local art. Enjoy all Church Hill has to offer & rest easy in the yellow home on rainbow row. *All utilities (water, electricity, gas, wifi) included in base rate. **Owner is open to discussing part-time home sharing, if you'd like to put a private room on Airbnb, or the entire home while you travel. You'll need to register for a short-term rental permit with the city (happy to walk you through this). Subject to a 20% revenue share. This is a great way to supplement your income! Please email Katelyn if you're interested! - - - - - - - - - - THE SPACE From the front door, you'll walk into the living room. There is a new nice sized couch, two smaller chairs, a coffee table and a television. There is also a working gas fireplace in the living room. Continue on and you'll enter the dining room, which includes a new dining table and 4 chairs. It is a great space to eat or work from home. There is also high-speed wifi throughout the house! The bathroom downstairs is very tiny. It includes a lovely old school clawfoot tub. Guests are welcome to use it, but fair warning: it is small. Your host is 5 ft tall and fits in comfortably, but taller folks might not enjoy as much. At the end of the first floor is the kitchen, which includes a new stainless steel refrigerator, gas stove and microwave as well as a dishwasher. There is everything you need to cook a full meal. The primary bedroom is at the front of the house, on the top floor. This bedroom has a king bed (Birch mattress), desk with chair, two nightstands, a luggage rack, and nice sized closet. There are two lamps with USB ports. The 2nd bedroom is also on the top floor, just down the hallway from the primary bedroom. This bedroom has a queen bed (Nectar mattress), dresser, two nightstands, a luggage rack, and nice sized closet. There are two lamps with USB ports. The upstairs bathroom includes a standing shower with a large opaque glass window. Fabulous natural sunlight shines through. The back bedroom includes a full size bed with new Lucid mattress (Aug. 2022), desk and chair. Abstract paintings hung throughout out the house are by Richmond local artists, William Corprew (@80bydesign) and Helena Magnusson Ogburn. GUEST ACCESS Guests have access to the entire house, private back deck and front porch. The neighborhood is quite walkable, and there is free street parking. You can almost always find parking on the street right in front of the house, or just around the corner. Other things to note: Miss Libby is a safe space for folks from all minority and marginalized groups. Guests of all races, faiths, genders, and sexual orientations are welcome. There are no designated parking spots. There is free street parking though, and you can almost always find a spot just in front of the house. Please be mindful of street cleaning signs that pop up every once in a while. There is no Cable tv, just Wi-Fi channels. We provide a Netflix account for guests to use. Feel free to log into any other accounts with your own login info. This house was built in 1900! That said, there is a lot of historic charm and character. Yes, the floors are slightly sloped in some spots. Yes, you may hear some creaking and noises when the heat is on. Yes, the house is haunted (just kidding!). On very cold nights, the there is a subtle "thud" noise that can occur when the heat turns off. My partner has never noticed this, and no guests have commented on it, but I (Katelyn) have noticed. It's common with the historic houses with airflow underground. It happens when the hot air flow stops and the ducts contract. Nothing to worry about. The floors upstairs are the original hardwood floors! Please be gentle on them. The clawfoot tub/shower in the first floor bathroom is smaller than average. A tall person might not want to shower in it, but there is another shower upstairs! There are in fact 2 full bathrooms in the house, but I listed 1.5 for this reason. The next door neighbors occasionally smoke inside and the smell can seep through the walls, into Miss Libby. I apologize in advance if you notice this. Zep smoke odor eliminator is used between stays, as well as an ozone machine on occasion. Heat rises and in the middle of the summer it can get warm upstairs. Another old house quirk. I've provided thinner linens and portable fans that guests are welcome to use. Keeping the blinds/curtains closed helps keep the rooms cooler as well. All inclusive furnished rental! Electricity, gas, water, trash, recycling and internet included, as well as one cleaning every 2 months. Up to 2 cats are allowed. $100 pet fee per month per pet. HOUSE RULES The floors upstairs are the original hardwood floors (from 1900)! Please be gentle on them. Please be mindful of your noise volume. Quiet time is between 10pm & 7am. Please be respectful of the neighbors! Only approved guests may visit the property. Please ensure the number of guests on your reservation request is accurate. If you use the outdoor furniture, please put the cover back on it when you are done. Please remember to turn the gas off and cover the grill when not in use. Flush only toilet paper. No tampons, wipes, trash, socks, goldfish, cigarette butts, cell phones....you get the point. There are quite a few cats who live on the block and hang out on the front porches. They are all very friendly, but please do not let them inside the house. The space is in a wooded area that can get humid. A pest control specialist treats the house every two months, but we can't know what guests do with leaving doors and windows open. Please try to keep food and drinks in closed containers when not in use. An occasional critter (ant, bug) might sneak in, particularly in the summer. If you have deep insectophobia, this might not be the place for you. No smoking on the property, inside or outside. If we smell or find evidence of smoking, there will be a $250 fine requested. Please use coasters under drinks, to avoid stains on wood tables. Please do not go into the cleaner's closet (in the back bedroom) without the host's permission.
