There are many parallels between these transient desert refuges and the limitless Cloud Chaser design. The slot canyon is a subtraction; a void that forms an intimate oasis that provides a refuge from the vastness and overwhelming scale of its surroundings. The home is a series of subtractions which create intimate spaces and sculpturally carved roof overhangs. The design is able to take in an almost 180-degree view of the entire valley through the sheer size of its windows. The glass wall stretches nearly 78 feet and rises 16 feet above the floor. To support the loads on the glass, an intermediate beam supported by several hidden vertical straps transfer the loads to a beam above. Through such structural maneuvering, a monumental view is created.
