Its main thoroughfare, Anderson Avenue, or "The Avenue" as it is affectionately referred to, has many wonderful stores for shoppers to explore. The form of government is mayor and council. There are six council members, two elected every 3 years on a rotating basis. The mayor serves a four-year term. There are four elementary schools, a middle school, an Early Learning Center and a high school. For more information regarding the school system see the Cliffside Park School District. The Cliffside Park Towne Center is a development project on Anderson Avenue which will feature a 13-story, 277-unit luxury apartment building, approximately 50,000 square feet of retail and office space, underground parking for residents, a municipal parking lot for public use, a one-acre plaza with a reflecting pool and outdoor seating. If all goes as planned, as of now the Towne Center is expected to be completed by August 2016. Commuters to New York City have several options to choose from including ferry, bus and easy access to both the GW Bridge and Lincoln Tunnel.
