Now that COVID has receded somewhat, we're re-renting our basement apartment. It's a 1BR, 1BA basement apartment, with a full kitchen and washer/dryer in the unit. Partially furnished, but we can store the furniture if you have your own. Shared patio space. Utilities and wifi included. Separate entrance. It's on a quiet street about two blocks from the Cleveland Park metro. This is the best of a private apartment and a home-share. Market rent is $1400/mo, but we've posted it at $750/mo in exchange for ~10 hours/week of errands, which might include driving our 13yo to sports practice, walking our (sweet and friendly) dog and/or dog sitting, and grocery shopping in the neighborhood. All at mutually convenient times. Also you'll need to tolerate living in proximity to (but not sharing space with) a family. You must have: a fondness for dogs, a tolerance of teenagers, and two references. (We have references from prior tenants, if you want a sense of how this might work.) A small, quiet, well-behaved dog would be welcome (but not big dogs, not multiple dogs and definitely no cats). This is a great setup for a college or grad student.
