This is a 110+ year old classic less than a 10 minute walk to hip downtown Maplewood in a quiet family friendly neighborhood less than a 5 minute walk to Central Park which is a perfect play place for for your little ones. The home was remodeled in the early 1990s with additional major improvements in the early 2000s. The roof on both the house and garage was replaced in November 2016 along with an all new zoned and engineered HVAC system. The 625 square foot oversize 2 car garage was built in 2004 and features a walkable 2nd floor and has forced air HVAC. If you work on your own hobby cars or want a nice workshop for any reason, you will appreciate this space. The home features hardwood floors throughout, a full master bath and a full central 2nd floor bath in addtion to a convenient 1st floor half bath. Laundry facilities are nicely tucked away in a closet off of the 1st floor family room. There is a full kitchen with higher end maple cabinets and granite countertops. A formal dining room sits adjacent the kitchen, formal living room, and a family room. The is a large master bedroom with walk in closet, previously mentioned master bath with a restored antique oversize claw foot bath, separate shower, and two classic look pedestal sinks. The master walk in closet is fitted with St. Louis Closet Company custom built in systems. You will love the classic style tile in both of the 2nd story bathrooms. The main bath matches the style of the master bath but with a single restored antique pedestal sink. The half bath on the first floor is almost centrally located and is extremely convenient. Two bedrooms are located on the second floor, one large master, another large bedroom perfect for children, and there is another room on the second floor that would be perfect for an office or nursery. The larger second bedroom also has a custom St. Louis Closet Company installed system. There is a large 3rd bedroom on the third floor with plenty of closet space. The 3rd floor is also served by the central HVAC system. We used the 3rd floor bedroom as a playroom for our son. Unlike most older homes there is plenty of closet space in all bedrooms as well as two closets on the 1st floor. One coat closet is located close to the main entry and the other is located off the formal dining room. The basement is a typical old house basement but has a nice concrete floor. When the home was updated in the early 2000s we changed the exterior basement entry from the old “storm cellar” type entry that guaranteed bumping your head as you walked in, to a normal door with an easy entry staircase and landing. Unless you are really tall, you do not need to worry about bumping your head. This change made the basement a truly usable utility and storage space. The exterior was redone in the early 2000s to be as maintenance free as possible with new windows, vinyl siding, “plastic” clad wood trim, composite decking (like Trex) and aluminum facia and soffit. All of the exterior concrete (sidewalks, driveway, and stairs) was replaced in the early 2000s and is in great condition. A new 200 ampere electric panel (many added outlets) was installed by the previous owner and plumbing was updated at that time as well. There is so much more to this home to love. It is much more akin to a 20 year old home with recent major system updates than a typical 110 year old home. It is very uncommon to find a home with these types of upgrades in an older neighborhood. Good luck finding another like it in this area. It has the quality “bones” of a classic home but the modern amenities, comforts, and energy efficiency of a newer home. It has the best of both eras. We have loved everything about the neighborhood and the home since 1995. The schools, our neighbors, city services, and the convenience of this location are amazing.
