It's a solidly-built Cape Cod , 2br up and 2br down which a couple of young attorneys whose parents were realtors updated, renovated and redid the kitchen and appliances in 2006. I installed a brand new, top of the line energy-efficient heating system in 2010. Get this! Behind our house is a lovely carriage house, with a two car garage, an office and a second floor barn which has as many square feet as our house! This sits on the site of the original farmhouse, which is next door. I was told by the home's original owner that the walk to the carriage house got to be too much for the elderly lady who owned the farmhouse next door, so she built a cute little frame garage close to her back door, and sold half her land and the carriage house to a builder, who built our Cape Cod house to match the style of the farmhouse and carriage house. So, the property includes a detached, 2 -car garage, AND a fully functional office with TV, wifi and a half basement (unfinished). From the office and the garage, you can access an unfinished basement downstairs, AND a full unfinished barn upstairs, with a vaulted ceiling. The carriage house upstairs is around 600 square feet I was told -- which is as big as one floor of our house! In the basement of the office, I installed French drains, a sump pump, hoses through the yard and draining out to the street and into a drain, and a dehumidifier in the office basement. It is a great space. Very light and airy. Pleasant. The garage is wide and deep, with plenty of storage space in the back. It too is light, with four windows in the garage! I installed a brand new electric, safety garage door opening system with new openers. I paid to have the office wired with a Comcast for TV and high speed internet. Oh- I forgot - I changed all the gutters on BOTH the house and carriage house, and put extra strong, oversized gutters with gutter guards, added two additional downspouts, fenced the yard, and replaced ALL the old hollow wood interior doors in the house, with SOLID WOOD paneled doors, AND installed all solid brass, flip handles (versus old door knobs.) I installed crown molding where the ceiling meets the walls in the downstairs living room, and in the two downstairs bedrooms. I'm sure I've forgotten some of my improvements, but you get the idea! Also, I only hire licensed, bonded contractors and for all permits.
