    What's special

Cute and roomy bungalow. Vinyl siding. New roof installed in 2006. Two skylights installed when roof was stripped, re-sheathed with 4-ply plywood, and re-shingled with dark grey 30-year architectural shingles. All new vinyl clad windows being install by October first, while house is listed. Kitchen very clean but up needs updating in you want newest/modern. Has original all-steel cabinets from 1929; a real gem for those interested in quality manufacturing from days earlier and the cabinets are in excellent working condition. The original cabinets are actually a show piece to many folks who've come to visit. Hardwood floors through-out except for staircase to second floor master bedroom suite, hallway, and back sitting room (which could function as a 4th bedroom or office if desired.) This 2nd floor rear section of house will have new wall-to-wall carpet installed by October 1st. Front master bedroom on second floor has southern yellow pine tongue & grove flooring and measures 15'x12' with a private full bathroom (shower, vanity sink, toilet with plenty of storage in custom made shelving/cabinet). The master bedroom gathers wonderful morning light through the two double-hung windows in the gable end facing the street, and afternoon light through one skylight. The kitchen gathers bright morning light through double windows. The L-shaped dining room and living room gather light from morning till evening through large windows. A comfortable front porch is great for weekend and evening relaxation and has a custom cabinet for shoes, etc. The house, although close to others (as are all the houses on this street), is situated such that the dining room has a view of green trees in summer and the open sky expanse over Tweed airport in the winter. Easy walking distance to the airport (which I found handy when I traveled a great deal for business). Near bus line to downtown New Haven, quite residential area, and walking distance to the Morris Cove seawall and Annex parks. Fort Hale Elementary School is all new and has an excellent educational rating, Catholic school also within easy walking distance. Ideal home and surrounds for a young family just starting out, a retired couple looking to downsize to a quiet area, or a Yale employee or post doctoral fellow. Pleasant level backyard and long driveway for off-street parking and privacy. A must see. Willing to tour serious folks searching for a new home. I lived in this home for 15 years and expected to remain their for the rest of my life. Selling only because I don't like to rent and I had the opportunity to move back to my childhood home. Dry basement with partially enclosed laundry area. Basement is partly finished with two insulated outer walls, which can be completed with a partition to make a basement office, hobby room, or den with a private entrance through the home's rear Bilco door. Extensive custom built open shelves ideal or storage. Isolated work-shop. Neighborhood Description Quiet family neighborhood. House is one and one-half blocks of the Morris Cove seawall that features a long, narrow, bayside grass park, a fetching view of the harbor as it opens to Long Island Sound, and a walking trail that leads to several community recreational parks, a group of tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball/softball diamonds, a fishing pier, and a walking/running track. Great family, residential area. Within walking distance of two small grocery stores, a hair salon, liquor store, a Catholic church and a Catholic elementary school, a public elementary school, and a community airport. One block walk to a bus stop for easy communting access to downtown New Haven and Amtrak. IDEAL location for those looking to reside in a comfortable residential area close to all manner of public transportation (planes, trains, buses) to escape the high price of gasoline that economic experts and political leaders tell us is never going to go back down to the levels we saw just a year ago (in 2007).
