Gales Ferry is a quant village nestled in the town of Ledyard and located on the eastern banks of the Thames River. The town was founded as a result of a Ferry Crossing at the site leading to a neighboring town called Uncasville. Today the site is home to three buildings owned and operated by Yale University’s Crew Team. This site serves as a training camp for the well known, Yale-Harvard Boat Race. Yale’s Crew is the oldest college athletic event in America and holds great historic value. The heavily wooded village of Gales Ferry is home to lush orchards, all American subdivisions, small shopping plazas, and overwhelming New England Charm.
