It was designed and built by architect George C. Oistad in 1969 and the name Hoven is Dutch for courtyard or garden. The Hoven Apartments are a great example of 1960's Contemporary architecture in that it was all focused on function. Most units feature built-in adjustable bookcases along a wall with 20-foot ceilings, giving you endless display options in the main living area. What draws people to the property is its funky exterior. We all know that the U-District is notorious for being short on parking, so the optional reserved parking makes it even more appealing, especially if you're a student. The building features a ground floor laundry room and building storage lockers. Some of the units have in-home washer/dryer. You will have a plethora of resources near The Hoven, some that are walking distance, others a 5-minute bus ride. Bus 372 takes you east, to University Village, routes 45, 71, & 73 will get you to a variety of fun shops along Roosevelt Way & University Way, i.e. University Bookstore, or head west and a 10-minute walk will get you to the Farmers' Market. 12M
