Paramus was once a robust agricultural community with acres of celery, corn and tomato farms. Today, Paramus has grown to a community of nearly 30,000 residents. There are more than a dozen communter bus routes to New York City offered by NJ Transit and Shoreline. Paramus boasts the single largest retail zip code in the nation, drawing hundreds of thousands of shoppers to its four major malls and hundreds of specialty stores. Paramus has two public country clubs, the Orchard Hills County and Paramus, as well as two private, Arcola and Ridgewood. The golf course at Ridgewood Country Club has served as the location for Senior PGA Tour, as well as the 2008 Brclays PGA Tour Playoffs. A municipal pool, located on Midland Avenue, is on the west side of town and open to borough residents and families in neighboring communities. It features kiddie, intermediate and Olympic-sized pools.
