RICH MAN'S RESIDENCE IN TOWN!! Step into history in a luxurious 3 BR Suite on the second floor, inspired by the great Asa Packer. Builder of the 650 miIe Lehigh Railroad through the area, founder of Lehigh University and then 3rd richest man in America. US Congressman from 1853-1857. Responsible for much of Jim Thorpe's development. Visit his fabulous mansion on the other side of Jim Thorpe (built to be next to our Most Important Rental in America!!) This luxe home is located under Jim Thorpe's mountains near the Lehigh River. This was the ancestral lands of the northern clan of the Lenape-Delaware Indians. Enjoy making memories with beautiful woodwork and hardwood floors, period furniture including a doctor's ultra-luxury King bedroom set, Japanese inlaid furniture and a true antique icebox! All pots, pans, utensils This space was curated with vintage furnishings, embellishments and themed elements to honor this giant of this area. You are directly in town, close to the heartbeat of an immensely historic "gilded" town known as "The Switzerland of America" -- once the second most popular tourist spot after Niagara Falls! All linens and towels are provided for your comfort. Fast Wifi available throughout the building A Historic Building This amazing building has a deep and diverse history to the 1800s. Once a central gathering place for the east side of Jim Thorpe, it was the site of George Eck's sweater knitting mill, karate studio, art studio, spa, Joe Brown's general store, apartments and the town bowling alley. We even found 2 mineralized bowling balls almost 70 years old and a bar made out of the original alley floor! Nearby is our "most important rental in America" and "US Congressman's Residence - part of the oldest house in town (1822). About the Area Jim Thorpe is a 4 season town in the western Poconos with an amazing history, stunning beauty, whitewater rafting, shows, historic train ride, museums, wineries, entertainment, music, mountain biking & hiking, paintball, restaurants, spectacular architecture and many festivals. Surrounded by forested hills in a small canyon forged by the Lehigh River, the area has rich wildlife and birds. Eagles and hawks are often sighted. The hills turn snowy white in winter, gorgeous colors in autumn, blooms with flowers late in April and a lush green all summer long. You can drive to golfing, skiing, casinos and waterparks. There are state parks, lakes with beaches, nature trails, river and gamelands for fishing and hunting in-season. Farms and farmer markets, restaurants, antiquing and quaint shops. This is a serene and tranquil paradise that will melt your stress and worries away. About Us We live in Jim Thorpe.
