Tired of paying rent with nothing to show for it at the end of each year, I started exploring the condo market with my friend and Realtor, Lynn. I knew I must have a single story flat with an attached garage and a screened porch with a beautiful view, but had no idea how hard it would be to find what I was looking for located close to my work and family, with monthly fees I could afford. Oh, and it needed to have an open kitchen with plenty of room for my 10 book club ladies to gather around my dining table and park nearby. It was a pretty big ask, but I was determined not to move until I found a home that filled all of these requirements. We looked for weeks and finally found this condo that checked all the boxes plus a few--concrete block construction plus a low-risk flood zone! The first time I hosted my book club, I loved being able to finish fixing dinner while my girlfriends gathered around the breakfast bar visiting and munching on hors d'euvres. I used my cute little breakfast nook for our wine bar with the fridge and icemaker only steps away. I was proud of my new stainless steel applicances that I splurged on in 2021. There was plenty of room in my dining area to add a folding table at the ending of my dining table to house all 10 of us together and there was plenty of parking for everyone right across the street. I loved that my spare bedroom had plenty of room for my grandsons to visit and, when COVID hit, to double as my home office when the stay at home order was issued. And my living room was plenty big enough to house my exercise bike so I could exercise while enjoying my peaceful view through the sliding glass doors while the gym and pool, located right across the street were closed. Each evening I would sit out on my screened porch and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the wildlife scramble along the bank of the pond and into the woods beyond. Life was good, but not nearly long enough. Now I hope my treasured home will become a home sweet home for another lucky homeowner.
