I'm looking for the right person to rent our basement apartment! Place is available September 1st, though I will wait for the right person or people to come along. I am a single, full-time working professional parent of two great boys, 4 and 7. I'd like to rent to someone that is looking to not only have affordable rent in a beautiful town and on beautiful land (I hear crickets outside my window as I write), but also to be part of a small community. I'm looking for someone that is kind, fun, reliable, positive, up for weekly or monthly potluck dinners, and all around a good person. I'm juggling a lot, and I'd love to find someone that loves kids, and would be up for exchanging child care for rent. Also maintenance could also be counted towards rent. The best candidate will need to have great references, credit, background check, and proof of employment. All pets are welcome, as long as they are not loud or scratch the floor. No smoking anywhere on the property. Tenants will split internet and electric with me and the tenant in the in-law apartment in the back, and pay $100/month for heat (which is an oil furnace + a propane fireplace you see in the pictures). Laundry is included but shared. There is no sink in the kitchenette, but there is one next to the washer/dryer. We would work out when I would come down to do laundry. Otherwise, your place is your own, and I'm very respectful of your privacy. You will hear the occasional 4 year old running down the hall, but we are aware of the noise, and work hard to keep it down. One piece of the rental agreement is that we all help out with snow blowing, shoveling, raking leaves, and mowing the lawn in the summer. You won't get a manicured vibe if you come visit, but we make sure it feels kept up. There are any number of gardening projects you could do if you were interested. I'm looking for someone to sign a year lease, but am open to other arrangements if it's a good fit.
