Come enjoy this spacious, peaceful getaway in the heart of "downtown" Batesville. The house is newly remodeled and fully furnished, and boasts skylights, solar panels, and sunlight in every room. There are three bedrooms: a king-sized primary, a queen in the second room, and a flexible third room that serves as an office or guest bedroom with a full-sized pull-out futon and its own en-suite full bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped (we love to cook) and has a dishwasher. Wifi works great and we have numerous desk setups around the house if you work from home-- you can pick your favorite spot.
Outside, you'll enjoy the side porch with dining table, complete with a pergola that is draped with a kiwi vine -- it makes tiny kiwis that are absolutely delicious, and should be in season this summer! The house sits on a very private 1.5 acres with plenty of other delicious summer fruits, including pear, apple, blackberries, figs, and pawpaws.
Batesville is a remarkable village, and you are right in the center of it. The house is situated just above the Batesville Store, which is the heart and soul of the community. There is live music there 3-4 nights a week, and you can also pop down to enjoy many other events such as Story Hour and more. Or, just walk down our private road in the morning to grab the locally famous Marie Bettes pastries or a baguette. It's truly less than a minute walking down your driveway, and it's a charming, soulful place.
It may be out in the countryside, but there is SO much to do in this area. Within a few minutes you can be at numerous famous wineries and breweries, including Veritas, Pippin Hill, King, Blue Mountain Brewery, and more. In 25 minutes, you can be on the Skyline Drive Shenandoah National Park on a hiking trail or camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains... or you can choose to stay closer to home and walk the woodland hiking trails that follow babbling creeks right out your door.
20 minutes driving to Charlottesville with UVA and lots of great dining and entertainment options. 30 minutes to Staunton, a small charming town with a European vibe. 1 hour drive to Richmond, 2.5 hours to DC (or an easy train). Charlottesville also has an airport and Amtrak station for easy transportation.
Families and kids welcome (kids love it here). Please reach out with any questions, we're more than happy to chat to see how we can accommodate you.
Available for 3-6 month short term rental; longer term rental negotiable. No smoking. Utilities (solar), wifi, garbage, and lawn mowing service included. Additional lawn services (weeding, etc) can be added for a fee.
