This is a small town located 10 miles north of Great Sand Dunes National Park, so bring your sand wedge and a bunch of extra golf balls as you try to chip out of the world’s largest sand trap. Never before did I have so many people taking pictures of me as that time with my golf clubs in the Dunes! Great hiking right up against the Sangre de Cristo, or Blood of Christ Mountains, 3 14,000' peaks right nearby make for great escapes on foot. The area is known for its spiritual retreats, featuring Buddhist temples, and more. People just seem to gravitate to this one of a kind part of Colorado.
