Kealakekua Bay (meaning "Pathway of the Gods") provides great ocean activities such as kayaking, world-class snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding, surfing, and views of incredible Kona Coast sunsets. There are a few beaches nearby, all of which have a different vibe and focus. Located in historic Napoopoo and centrally located only 16 miles from the town center of Kailua-Kona, nestled among over 100 trees. It is centrally located, 90 miles from Volcano National Park and 60 miles from the Kohala Coast. We have many recommendations for day trips to Northern white sandy beaches or other Big Island Adventures. It is 1 mile to the water, but the walk is along the road with a 400ft climb - best in the early morning or late evening. There is hiking nearby with the trail down to the Captain Cook Monument and also at the Puuhonua a Honaunau National Park. The mango farm produces primarily during the summer, offering some of the finest organically grown mangos on the Island - especially in the summertime. We also grow many different fruits including bananas, lilikoi, papaya, a variety of citrus, cacao, breadfruit, suriname cherries and avocados. We have organic vegetable and herb gardens as well... you are welcome to help yourself to what is growing and ripe. Location: Kealakekua Bay, Kona Coast, Big Island, Hawaii, USA (1 mi. to Ocean; 5 mi. to Captain Cook; 15 mi. to Kailua-Kona, 90 mi. to Volcano) Up the hill (Napoopoo), there are farmers markets, local grocery, cafes and restaurants close-by offering delicious options for cooking at home or dining out. We have many favorites and recommendations, like Kayas for fabulous local coffee and gluten-free treats and I'wa cafe for amazing local coffee and delicious pastries. We also have 2 other houses on the property, that are 300-500 feet away and very private as they are separated by Mango, Ulu, Avocado, Papaya and Banana trees. THINGS TO NOTE: ~ This is a sublet for our personal home. We will be removing our personal items from the master bedroom and common areas and will leave the 2nd bedroom and office locked. All other spaces in the house will be available as part of the sublet. ~ The sublet is for 1 person or a couple sharing the master bedroom. ~ The entire farm respects quiet hours 9pm-8am. The overall vibe is very tranquil and relaxing. ~ We are a working, organic mango farm with 65 mango trees and about 15 other types of fruit trees (permaculture, organic, korean natural farming practices), and we have vegetable and herb gardens. We need to mow and weedwack regularly, so this noise should be expected. ~ There are 4 delightful cats on the farm that freely roam and visit. They are cared for and fed by our onsite caretakers but they do love to come and visit. IMPORTANT: We will likely have kittens born on the farm during your visit ~ so we'd love to have animal and especially cat lovers stay at the house. ~ All utilities are included within normal / average usage.
