The renter is responsible for the water. There is some maintenance with the cistern cleaning gutters and filters. There is a back up plan to have water delivered in case of drought. The 2 options are there is a water trailer at the house that can be used to get free potable water close by and pumped into the tank (you must own a vehicle capable of pulling 2400 pounds) or possible arrangements can be made for delivery.
