The apartment is half of a duplex that sits on a property with three duplexes. The neighbors have literally lived in the apartments next door for decades. Very active part of the street with children and many lively gatherings on the weekends. Searching for tenants with a respect for diversity and Durham traditions - you won't be able to move in and suddenly demand that people who have lived in their own communities for years do not continue their traditions of porch gatherings and raising chickens. On the other hand, you will be very close to downtown, and the apartment is spacious and open, with tall ceilings and all the amenities. No responsibility for the yard, and plenty of Durham's famous coolness. We are very attentive landlords and keep everything running and repaired and replaced. Two bedrooms, one large and one smaller (12 x12) Unfortunately, we cannot rent here without a personal visit. If you are looking from out of town, this is not going to be possible. You need to drive by and get a real feel for the neighborhood before contacting us. In a decade we have only had one vacancy here, so it is a place that people need to see and understand to make sure you can live with the community. The lease is month-to-month with a year long price freeze. You need two rental references. No evictions. Do not apply through zillow. Email me directly. The tenant or owner can break the lease at any time with a 30 day notice given from the beginning of the month. A full month's deposit and first month's rent is due at time of signing, even if you sign half way through the month. In such cases, the half month's rent (the reduced month, in other words) will be paid the following month. You will need to earn about 3,000 a month to qualify, and you will need two rental references. We rely on these more than credit checks or background checks. If you have been evicted recently, it will be hard to qualify. Again, we place more emphasis on your history of being able to pay your rent, than we do on your past life events. We are very serious about rental references and will both call them, and do research to make sure they own or manage the properties in question.
