Our home is located in an Active 55 Community in the delightful small village of Stafford Springs, CT. It is a separate unit and former model home with substantial upgrades. It has wood flooring throughout with sound-silencing carpet in both full bedrooms. Both the kitchen and bathrooms have custom wood cabinetry with Corian countertops. The eat-in-kitchen is propane plumbed and currently uses propane for the stove, since my wife is a trained chef, but it is also completely wired for electricity. There is a refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal and microwave oven as well. The 2 full bathrooms have glass-enclosures and water-saving adjustable shower heads and water-saving toilets. The laundry room is on the main floor. All windows both in the living area and in the walkout basement have window coverings which will stay except for two-family heirloom valences. The home is alarmed for intrusion, fire and medical emergency and transmission is by way of wireless and satellite due to my need for possible medical assistance. Though not needed yet, the hallway and doorways in the living area are oversize for wheelchair access. A ramp could be built if necessary for the outside as well as a service animal could be allowed as needed. The home is amply insulated and typically only requires about 250 gallons of oil or 20% biodiesel for yearly heating in rugged New England winters to a comfortable 68-70 degree temperature. The A/C is ample for weather in this area maintaining a cool 75 degree temperature in hazy, hot, humid summer days of 95 degrees which occasionally occur. Our home abuts a municipal wooded in-perpetuity green space with occasional deer if you want to feed them. The back of our area has been seeded with perennial local wildflowers to enhance the wildlife and our flying friends. Bird feeders and a bird house will stay since there are annual residents among the local bird population and one can watch every spring as new life begin its continuing journey. The separate home is surrounded by kind and considerate people who routinely meet for potlucks, card playing and the like in the community center. All are invited. Water, sewer, fire, police and most importantly ambulance protection are all provided by the municipality and CT water. CT Water maintains our local pump house to ensure exceptional water pressure and fire fighting pressures. A cell tower is nearby to ensure wireless reception and provides nesting as well for local birds. A local hospital affiliated with St. Francis Hospital in Hartford is nearby and access to US top-100 hospitals in Hartford and environs is close by Interstate 84. A most pleasant home in a caring community in a delightful small CT village.
