You'll love this charming cottage, which was built in the 1930s above our detached garage. It has lovely views overlooking a wooded hillside, and has a private deck for taking it all in. More like its own little house, it's a great alternative to an apartment or condo. It truly feels like a cabin retreat. Because the cottage is on the second story, it has views clear over our single story house. On the other side, the cottage looks over nothing but the wooded hillside. Included is a full kitchen with a gas range, and a full bathroom with stand-up shower. We have just refinished the original wood floors, so there is now wood floor in both the living room, kitchen, and bedroom. The new floor is pictured, with the cottage fully empty. The "furnished" photos show the former carpet in the bedroom, and red painted floor in the living room. The cottage is not furnished, but I left the photos in to help give a sense of the space with furniture. Located just a 10 minute walk from the Orinda Village and Country Club, and a 3 minute drive from the freeway and BART (we often walk to BART), It's difficult to find a better location in the Orinda, Lafayette, and Moraga areas. Orinda is just on the other side of the Berkeley / Oakland Hills, and enjoys much warmer weather than it's bay-side neighbors. Orinda has a nice selection of local shops and restaurants, and the city's crown jewel: the beautifully restored Orinda Theater. No smoking is allowed inside or outside on the property. Pets may be permitted, subject to an additional deposit, depending on the type of animal. Power, gas, water, & garbage are shared with the main house, with the cottage paying a small percentage of the total bills based on square footage. (average over the past 6 years has been less than $80/mo). A separate Comcast line serves the Cottage, so high speed internet and cable are available on your own account if desired.
