Owners will visit periodically to work on the property, staying for short visits in a separate cabin up the driveway from the main house. The space: The home is situated in a welcoming spacious property, surrounded by redwoods approximately three miles outside the beautiful coastal town of Point Arena, CA. It is our long-time home, lovingly curated by our family of writers and artists since the 1970s. Unlike many blank slate rentals you will immediately feel at home, surrounded by books, art, ideas, and nature. The property includes a 4-bedroom/2-bath house with two living rooms. The house is located on 12 private acres of woods and fields, has a fully equipped kitchen, wood stove fireplaces, heater, pool table, piano, board games, and spacious deck for outdoor dining and socializing. The house has four private bedrooms, one with a double bed and three with queen beds. All bedrooms have windows with views of the redwoods, three located off the front living room with a wood stove and pool table. The fourth bedroom is tucked in by a partial wall behind a larger back living room, with a wood stove and private bathroom. Guests will notice additional cabins on the property. The owners will visit periodically for short visits to work on the property, staying in the small cabins up the driveway away from the main rental home. Guest access: Guests will have full access to 12 acres of redwoods, fields, an outdoor stage, hammock and decks perfect for evening stargazing. Other things to note: This is a rural property, rich with wildlife and natural beauty. The town: Point Arena is a small historic city on Coastal HWY 1, located 135 miles north of San Francisco. With a population that remains close to 500, the town has a surprising number of great amenities such as restaurants and cafes, two world-class bakeries, a vibrant fishing/surfing cove, seasonal farmers market, movie theater, library, co-op grocery store, liquor store, bar, gas station, post office, three schools and a credit union. The town has tons of charm and history, with agricultural, bohemian and indigenous roots. The area: Point Arena is located in close proximity to the nearby towns of Anchor Bay, Gualala, Sea Ranch and Manchester. There are miles and miles of stunning beaches, hiking trails, state parks and an iconic lighthouse/lighthouse museum. The home is currently available for 3 - 10 months, with the possibility of an extension upon negotiation. Any and all extensions beyond the 10-month limit must be approved in writing by owners. Plentiful parking is available on the driveway, with space for multiple vehicles. No cats are allowed in this rental property. Dogs are negotiable. Property rules prohibit tenants from having outdoor fires of all kind. No bonfires, burn piles, outdoor wood stoves, charcoal grills, etc. Tenants are also prohibited from smoking cigarettes in the house or any open area with grass, shrubbery and/or trees. Guests may smoke on the outdoor deck, using a non-flammable ashtray. No hard drugs are permitted on the property.
