With more than one billion users, Facebook is still the dominant leader in social media — especially for real estate. Although other platforms like Google Plus, Instagram and Pinterest are edging their way into real estate agents' lives — and our clients' — Facebook is still the No. 1 social site.
One of the reasons Facebook is the dominant leader is because it has a number of different ways its users can use Facebook.
In addition to personal profiles and business pages on Facebook, groups are a great opportunity to build a network and build your business.
Here are 5 reasons to dive into Facebook groups today:
More conversations. Typically, people are more likely to debate, comment and join in conversations in a Facebook group instead of a Facebook page. The opportunity in groups lies in the ability to really create some great conversations around the topic of the group.
Options. With Facebook groups you can choose to have an Open, Closed or Private group. With an open group anyone can see the posts and the members. With a closed group, you can only see the members and with a private group it’s completely a secret. These options are ideal in determining the best group for you to start or to join.
The power of the masses. There are three fantastic groups on Facebook that are lively and a great place to ask a question and really figure out what agents are spending money on and how they are being successful. Those three groups are: "Tech support group for real estate," "What should I spend my money on?" and "Raise the bar." By searching for each of these groups within Facebook you can find and join each. These are three of the largest real estate groups on Facebook!
The power of a small group. Imagine creating a mastermind group of 8-10 like-minded individuals, or a community group in your area to be a great source of information to anyone moving to the community, or a group of your ambassadors for your office or your brand. Some of the very best groups I’ve seen are ones that are small, focused and are an excellent relationship-building tool.
Move your conversations from email to Facebook. In the past, group emails were the best way to communicate with all the agents in your office. But we are inundated and overwhelmed with email. Create or join a Facebook group for your office for office announcements, congratulatory messages, updates and more! This is a great way to build camaraderie and community!
