With spring and summer in the rearview, now’s a great season to take advantage of downtime and hone your skills. We asked some high-performing Zillow Premier Agent partners about their most valued podcasts. Give one a try on the way to meet your next tour connection.

Bigger Pockets podcasts

Joe “Oz” Ossichak, team lead at Oz Group, credits the Bigger Pockets family of podcasts with helping him move his career beyond commissions. “I was eager to help investors build wealth, and I was excited to earn a commission by finding them a deal,” Ossichak says. “Bigger Pockets helped me realize that I could be an investor, and helped me understand the difference between income-earning and wealth-building.”

Bigger Pockets was recommended by multiple agents we spoke to. For Ossichak, it helped him realize his superpower: Everyone says the most challenging part of real estate investing was finding the deals — and he had the deals. “As an agent on the frontlines, you’re constantly in the field and the opportunities are all around you; you just have to see them,” he says. “Now I'm a wealth-builder, not just an income-earner.”

Women Rocking Real Estate

Hosted by Jen Percival, Women brings top-notch production value and so many actionable takeaways that you'll be tempted to start taking notes right away. Percival also offers playlists curated for your specific phase in your real estate career, among coaching programs and many other services. This podcast comes recommended by Mike Hills, Vice President, Brokerage at Atlas Real Estate.

Marketplace

If you’ve ever wondered what the heck yield curves or credit default swaps are and how they relate to your business, Marketplace is a fine place to start. Every weekday, host Kai Ryssdal and various NPR contributors explain economic terms and developments in plain language. And as they break it all down, they explain how everything works together. In days not weeks, you’ll be citing economic indicators in everyday conversation.

Masters of Scale

Quentin Dane of Dash Carolina recommends Scale partly because, he says, it’s discussion on a relevant topic — growing businesses or processes quickly and efficiently — that’s not specifically from a real-estate perspective.

“I know there are 100 ways to succeed in real estate; I see it at every conference we attend,” he says. “While hearing someone from real estate pontificate on those successes is always helpful, Scale allows me to hear big brains talk about the same issues we're facing at Dash without framing it in a real-estate box.”

A Bit of Optimism

Episodes of Optimism are like workshops in life and leadership. Each one features a conversation with a different guest (notable episodes: “Power” with Robert Greene, and “Failing Well” with Dr. Amy Edmondson.) Host Simon Sinek, maybe best known as the author of Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, has a knack for interviews that often cut straight to the chase.

“It detaches me from daily stresses and expands my thinking,” says Abel Gilbert, founder and CEO of OnePath Realty in Miami. “It opens my mind and heart to be a better leader.”

The Tom Ferry Podcast Experience

The Tom Ferry Podcast Experience is another podcast that several agents recommended. Ferry is an American business coach, motivational speaker, and author. He's the founder and CEO of Ferry International, a real-estate industry coaching and training company.

“I listen to Tom Ferry’s podcast weekly,” one Premier Agent told us. “Normally it provides real-time data to help you stay informed about what's going on in the real estate community. Also, he always gives us these amazing mindset tactics.”

Real Estate Rockstars

Winston Murray, founder and principal broker at Works Real Estate in Seattle and Portland, recommends 'Real Estate Rockstars,” because, he says, they detail invaluable market news and specific strategies for real estate agents and brokerages in a rapidly changing industry.

Shelby Johnson, who most often hosts Rockstars, has earned her share of success along the way by establishing Five Pillars Realty Group. Each episode features a new guest — up-and-coming agents, seasoned brokers, real estate investors, and other industry luminaries. Notable guests have included Robert Kiyosaki, Barbara Corcoran, and Ryan Serhant.

New Home Insights

If your business is affected by new construction, New Home Insights can keep you on top of developments. But Insights doesn’t just tackle topics for new homes and builders. Listeners also get episodes like “The Economy Deconstructed, One TikTok at a Time,” 'How iBrokers Will Change the Way We Buy Homes,' and 'The Invisible Kitchen: Whirlpool's Consumer Trends Before and After COVID-19.” There’s always a thread back to real estate, and the takeaways are usually well worth the listen.
