Here’s everything you need to know about seller connections.
Sellers that choose to engage with a Seller Consultant will be connected with a Premier Agent partner through a warm, live transfer. Seller Consultants will be sure to introduce the seller to the Premier Agent partner and summarize anything they have talked about, including the seller’s goals and timeline.
Sellers that do not engage with a Seller Consultant will be connected to Premier Agent partners as directed leads in the Premier Agent app inbox.
Within the Premier Agent app, you will see key information about the seller and their home, including:
To capture high-intent sellers, customers in participating markets will see an estimated market value and will be prompted to unlock their offer. They then fill out a questionnaire to provide more details about their home. After submitting the questionnaire, they are presented with an updated estimated market value and the benefits of connecting with a Premier Agent partner including access to Zillow Showcase. In select markets, eligible sellers will also be presented with a preliminary cash offer from Opendoor.
Sellers can also choose to engage with a Seller Consultant – a Zillow employee intended to help them evaluate their options and connect them with the right partner to make it happen. If sellers do not need assistance, they can choose the best option(s) for themselves and be routed to the appropriate partner(s).
Yes, sellers who are eligible for a cash offer from Opendoor can choose to connect with Opendoor and a Premier Agent partner at the same time to further explore their options. However, once they sign an exclusive listing agreement with a Premier Agent partner or sign a Purchase & Sale Agreement (PSA) with Opendoor, they can only continue to work with the respective partner to sell their home.
Seller Consultants in this program are primarily a resource to help sellers navigate their options and pursue the right path for them. They are not intended to maintain an ongoing relationship with the seller outside of a post-call recap email and automated SMS.
Seller Consultants are licensed operators whose goals are to 1) engage with sellers who need help evaluating their selling options; 2) understand the seller’s needs and goals; 3) educate them on their options and 4) connect them to the right partners and set appropriate expectations for next steps.
Seller Consultants are available 8am – 7pm based on time zone.
Zillow customers in eligible markets will be able to get a cash offer from Opendoor and compare it to selling on the open market with a Premier Agent partner. We believe that sellers can make their best decisions when they see their options upfront. This partnership is just one piece of Zillow’s commitment to helping more customers seamlessly transact – a vision that includes a significant partnership with agents. In non-eligible markets, sellers will only be presented with the option to connect with a Premier Agent partner.
Zillow calculates the estimated market value by finding similar homes based on the information provided by the seller. Sellers can click into the estimated market value to see which similar homes were evaluated to calculate the estimate. This estimate is intended to be a data point to help sellers compare and evaluate their options, but in no way replaces your local expertise, a formal CMA, or a final marketing and listing price strategy.
Sellers working with a Seller Consultant will be asked if they would prefer working with their existing MyAgent partner. If the seller indicates that they would like to work with that partner, the Seller Consultant will share their existing agent’s contact information. If they would like to work with a new Premier Agent partner for their listing needs, the Seller Consultant will follow the typical flow of connecting the seller with a participating partner in their area.
Sellers following a completely digital path with no Seller Consultant engagement will be connected to a new Zillow Premier Agent partner regardless of their MyAgent relationship.
Routing rules for seller connections are determined by which sell-side zip codes you have your agents assigned to in the PA App, as well as your team’s performance in those zip codes. Unpaused agents in your team’s sell-side zip codes will receive a mix of live seller connections and direct to inbox leads. Team leads will serve as the fallback agents for leads that fail to connect with agents on their teams.
Many seller connections you receive will likely have buying needs. If they are looking to buy within the same market, you should offer to help them. As part of understanding their buying needs, you can also inquire about their pre-approval status and financing needs.
