Welcome HotPads to Zillow

Perhaps the best part of using Zillow Rentals is when you receive a push notification about a lead from the Zillow Rental Network, the tools to close that new tenant are instantly at your fingertips. Consumers are excited at the prospect of renting online with you, and you’re saving a ton of time. As we grow our footprint, it’s like a currency: as it becomes available to and expected by more tenants, it becomes more widely used by landlords, and vice versa.

Today, we’re excited to announce a leap forward in this effort with our acquisition of HotPads. Upon closing, this deal will instantly add 2.8 million unique visitors to the sites in our network, 70% of whom look at rentals. It’s an audience many of you are familiar with, since our premier product syndicates to a number of sites including HotPads. The level of integration we’ll be able to implement once HotPads is officially part of the free Zillow Rental Network is where we are most excited.

We think the partnership is special for a few reasons. First, their site and mobile apps, which they developed over seven years, serve the rental consumer extremely well. Their team’s expertise will make our entire consumer rental experience better. Second, adding their audience to ours will solidify a sizeable lead in the marketplace, making it easier for our tools to stop the repetitive and annoying work of signing up a new tenant for your property. Finally, we’ve really enjoyed building a relationship with their team. They are obsessed about improving their product, they share a similar vision of the future, and they are a lot of fun! We’re excited to work with HotPads to make the largest and most useful rental marketplace.
