Bought a Single Family home in 2022 in Albuquerque, NM.Local knowledgeProcess expertiseResponsivenessNegotiation skillsI had a rather disappointing experience with this realtor. While I initially had high hopes for a smooth home-buying process, I found myself in a situation where significant caveats about the property were not disclosed to me during the transaction. ...Response from Devon Amos on 11/12/2023
I am truly sorry you're in an overwhelming situation and have these sentiments toward me. I am passionate about helping homebuyers navigate the long, extensive and exciting, while sometimes challenging, confusing and even scary process of purchasing a home. Every situation is unique and I do everything I can to advocate for the needs of every client I work with. I enjoyed working with you and helping you find a home to live in during your studies. I recognize purchasing a home for the first time can be stressful and we don't always know what to look out for or expect down the road. Our work together consisted of an extensive amount of conversations via voice, text, email and in-person, so I know many details can get lost or forgotten and would never expect you or any homebuyer to remember every aspect of the process. As I mentioned during the process and recently (prior to this review), the home was being sold 'as is' and clarified what this meant. When working together, we reviewed the inspection report and went over any issues that may come up, including the heater. Once you confirmed this was 'the one' and wanted to make this your home, I looked at ways to provide you with some safety nets. I felt it was fair to negotiate a price reduction to compensate for any future repairs and successfully got this done. This was agreed upon in lieu of any repairs being made by the seller. I also encouraged the purchase of a home warranty, should there be any unexpected issues or anything else that the warranty covered after moving there. You accepted both options and had a home warranty for the first year and did not renew it afterwards. I don’t blame you for not renewing the warranty as it is an additional expense and a personal choice for everyone. You recently reached out to me to let me know you're having issues with your heater. I was happy to know you felt comfortable enough to contact me after closing, which to me is an indication of us having a good working relationship during the home buying process. However, it is the worst feeling when a client is not happy with their home and I wish there was something I could do to fix it. We have spoken about the concerns you raise in this review and although all conditions agreed upon at closing were final, I did speak with the seller's agent to see if there was anything that could be done. It is unfortunate you feel compelled to leave such a harsh review, while minimizing the genuine support and advocacy I have provided from the moment we first spoke. I truly wish there was something else I could have done to provide a resolution to meet your needs. I did everything within my scope to help you with this process and have no control over the issues with your heater. I feel terrible for your situation and do not intend to minimize your feelings, though I hope you reconsider the impression you have of our work together.
