Darrin was our agent trying find us a home. He was very nice, talked a good game and made a bunch of promises, but didn’t deliver on them! We ended up losing the home we wanted because he antagonized the other agent and the sellers which really ups...

Response from Darrin R Campbell P.A. on 2/1/2024

I'm sorry but I have not done any business with a John over the last 6 mos. However, if this is customer with the first initial D, then he is clearly mistaken as to what transpired. Here is the truth. D and his wife registered on Zillow and their contact info was delivered to me. We spoke to the customers and they agreed to meet us for the showing. 2 of my 5 children work on my team of 12 and 1 of them (my daughter whom is a licensed agent) set up a showing for that home they liked that same day. I was on my way to meet them at the home when the listing agent called and said that the seller was not ready for the showing as the home was a mess. I then set up the showing for the following day and I met the customers for the first time and the only time at that listing. I shook their hands, introduced myself and I proceeded to walk up to the front door to ring the bell (it was "homeowner will let you in” access). As I walked up to the front door, I noticed that I could see right into the home as the door jams around the front door were removed. Mind you, this home was only built a couple of years ago and sat right across the street from the model home. As I went to ring the doorbell, the homeowner opened the door and was very rude and asked if we were serious about the home and that he only wanted serious buyers. I told him YES we are serious buyers. When we entered the home, my customers and I were very surprised to find that there was debris all over the home and that the homeowner had proceeded to tear walls open and nothing had been closed up or cleaned up yet. Many of the walls were opened up as you can see in the listing pictures and the home smelled profusely of marijuana. I asked my customers if they still wanted to see it and they said yes. My customer even confirmed that he smelled the marijuana (he should not have allowed his wife to enter at that moment if he was the least bit apprehensive - but he did anyway). We proceeded to walk into the home and I asked the homeowner for the details around the work. He said he was a licensed electrician, and that the builder did not know how to wire the home so he was doing it himself. At that point, we proceeded to take the tour of the home. The home at one point I could tell was a beautiful home but with the walls ripped open and debris on the ground, such as cut drywall, wiring, screws, drywall compound, garbage, etc..... it was tough to see actually how nice it once was. My customers couldn't believe what they were seeing and even said that they can't believe the home looked worse in person than in the pictures. The homeowner told us about what he was planning on doing with the home, we listened and then continued to walk upstairs alone, while he waited in the kitchen. When we were upstairs, the customer asked me, why all the door casings were removed if he was just rewiring the home. I told the customer I will ask the homeowner when we went downstairs. We ended our tour on the second floor and went downstairs where I asked the homeowner in the kitchen, while we were all standing by the island, that if he was rewiring the home, why were all of the door casings missing and a lot of the accent trim molding on the floor. He told me again that he was a licensed electrician and that he was rewiring the home his way and that if we didn't like it, we could leave (obviously had this discussion with many other prospective buyers). I asked him if he had pulled any permits for the home (as any prospective buyer would want to know that the wiring was done properly, even if it was done by a licensed contractor). One should still pull permits to make sure things behind the walls are done properly. The homeowner then screamed at us, told us he didn’t have to pull permits and told us to leave immediately as he walked toward us. I then stepped in-between my customers and the irate homeowner (obviously protecting my customers because I had no idea what this homeowner was capable of but I was willing to protect them at any cost) who was obviously acting very anxious and we started to walk down the hallway to the front door. As we were walking down the hallway, the homeowner started to walk up very closely behind me. At that point, I stopped to create space so the homeowners go outside (again to protect them) and I asked the homeowner to step back away from me as I didn't feel safe with him that close. The customers then exited the front door ahead of me and went down to the sidewalk. On my way out of the front door, the homeowner continued to scream and told us not to come back. I told the homeowner I was going to call his agent to let him know what was going on in the home and that it's not normal to rewire a home that was just built a year or two ago by licensed contractors with pulled permits. I asked my customers if they were interested in making an offer on the home and they said absolutely not that it needed way too much work and was already at th
