As occasionally happens in this business, the way things went with this rental were not the way I would hope they would, but at least the tenants got a great place, in the end. Addressing their comments 1 by 1 - I presented the clients the best and closest to what they were asking for on the day(s) that we first made contact. I can't pull listings out of thin air. And I made myself available to jump on any and all possibilities for video tours, and did a few with them. The fact that the clients found a place that that I then jumped on touring for them is not that unusual. A rental agent cannot be at their computer every second of everyday, so many times a client will see something before you do. That siad - I jumped right on it for them. As far as the process went, clients were spot-on, the listing agent did not disclose things in a timely fashion and it caused the paperwork process to be very awkward. I own that my part in that process could have been cleaner, for sure. As for pushing to get the paperwork signed quickly and deposits done quickly - well, that is the speed of business here in the Boston-area market. I know it seems like agents are just pushing to make a buck but we are usually pushing because great places get snatched up so fast that the speedy client gets the place. It is the nature of the rental market here. I do wish that things had not gotten so messy but I am certainly happy that ultimately, J and M got a place that was great, close to family, and well-priced. I am also grateful that they gave me 5 stars on three of the four categories of review.
