The individual with whom I spoke was not qualified to rent the apartment, but expressed a desire to sign a lease with a non-resident co-signer. The individual stated that the co-signer was his father, who he stated was a judge. The individual implied that it would be in my best interest to rent to him, even with a non-occupant co-signer on the lease. I explained to him that if I was unable to find a qualified occupant to rent the apartment that I would contact him about next steps. The e-mail messages that he claims we exchanged did not occur. This is a person who is attempting to tarnish my reputation without any factual basis. Moreover, they are looking for a rental place in San Francisco, during the Covid-19 summer of 2020, which is the best renters’ market in living memory. If he was a qualified renter, I would have quickly rented to him, but he was not and his attempt to add his non-resident father to the lease does not change that fact.
