A South Texas native and a graduate of Texas A&M University, Shawna Owens earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After working for the family business, in the oil and gas industry, she then moved to Italy for 7 years.

Upon returning to the states in 2008, she earned her real estate license in New Mexico, where she spent three years in brokerage real estate and nine years in new home sales with Pulte Homes.
