Alex was born and raised in Greenville, North Carolina, and grew up taking family trips to the Wilmington area. He attended NC State University and graduated with a BS in Finance. While at NC State, he was very involved with Ducks Unlimited including two years served as the chapter president.

After graduation he was determined to see more of the world, moving to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
