I had the privilege of attending my second Zillow design event, and once again it did not disappoint. Zillow’s commitment to fostering a strong design community is truly inspiring. These events are more than just networking opportunities — they’re a space where designers can connect, learn and get an inside look at what it’s like to build impactful products at Zillow.

A standout moment of the event was seeing attendees engage directly with Zillow’s design leaders. Having the opportunity to hear firsthand about Zillow’s design culture, ways of working, and the challenges of shaping the future of real estate technology was incredibly valuable, giving designers a rare chance to learn from industry leaders and gain insights that can shape their own careers.

Zillow’s impact on the local design community

It was especially inspiring seeing how Zillow’s presence helped attendees understand the scale and complexity of the problems we solve. Many left with a new perspective on how Zillow operates in the U.S. and the kind of innovative work happening across our teams. These events are an invaluable exchange of knowledge — not just for us as Zillow designers, but for the broader product design community in Mexico. They provide a space to share ideas, gain insights from different ways of working and explore what’s possible in our industry.

Amy Jiménez Márquez , Zillow’s VP of Product Design for Agent Experience, conducted an insightful interview with local artist Alina Kiliwa, which was a highlight of the night. Alina’s work in lettering and traditional Mexican signage art is a testament to how design can be deeply rooted in culture and history. Learning about this craft reminded me how design exists in every corner of our lives — not just in digital products, but in the streets, in local businesses and in the identities of entire communities.

A night filled with creativity and cultural inspiration

After attending, my advice is this: Let this event and others like it, be a source of inspiration. Use your talent to make an impact, continue pushing the boundaries of design and most importantly, never stop learning. I hope everyone walked away with fresh perspectives, new connections and perhaps even the idea that their next career step could be with Zillow.
